THE LIAUTAUD INSTITUTE
LIAUTAUD GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO
An ISO-Managed, Positive Behavior Change, Research Institution
MISSION: The Institute was founded to research group dynamics. The Institute identifies the attributes that add to or detract from any group's intended function or purpose.
HISTORY: In 2007, the Institute received funding to utilize our research to develop training processes, designed specifically to increase group cohesion and performance.
Following multiple longitudinal studies and improvements, the new processes were designed to measurably increase the social and emotional cohesion of groups. A pilot study followed, and evidenced an increase in group cohesion, and an increase in their contribution to the group. Although the results were positive, the increased measures varied among the groups. The Institute then received further funding, in 2012, to conduct pilot studies designed to shorten the training cycle, and increase the outcome predictability.
In 2013, the Institute implemented its first evidence-based, rapid-group-learning program, now compressed to ten weeks, which correlate to the earlier measures of group cohesion that required the longer training cycles. The most impactful pilot-study results came from adapting new ISO standards that yielded a more predictable outcome.
In 2014, the Institute received funding to secure supportive evidence that our needs to group and contribute are biologically driven behaviors. That research is scheduled for completion in mid-2015.
FUNDING: The Institute operates all its current research studies from corporate grants.
